Course

Course Overview

What is IV & Phlebotomy?

Learn the process of making a puncture in a vein, usually in the arm, with a cannula for the purpose of drawing blood. The procedure itself is known as a venepuncture, which is also used for intravenous therapy. You will also be studying our extensive online reading materials that will be provided in advance of the course.
IV infusion therapy is a very popular delivery method for fluids and medication. “IV” stands for intravenous, which means it’s administered through the veins. The fluid that contains vitamins and minerals or medication is delivered via an IV drip or injection into the vein, which allows the therapy to move quickly through your bloodstream.

Duration
1-day theory plus 1-day practical training in academy.

Course Structure
The theory is undertaken on our student friendly eLearning portal in which we recommend 8 hours online study. On the practical day theory will be clarified, enabling us to focus more on the practical hands-on training.

Your comprehensive hands-on training will be supervised by highly skilled and experienced aesthetic trainers in small groups to maximize retention of knowledge. You will see demonstrations before moving onto models. Plenty of time is allocated to this part of the day, so that you are confident to practice independently afterwards

Models
You are required to supply a minimum of 2 models to cover all the areas studied. Models can have multiple areas, but we must see at least 1 of each to competently certify you for the practical elements. If you are unable to provide models, please let us know upon booking so we can discuss your options.

Dress Code
To meet industry standards a professional beauty uniform or scrubs are our preferred option. If you are yet to purchase salon/clinic dress plain black clothing is acceptable. Long sleeves must be rolled up to prevent cross contamination, jewellery must be removed, hair should be tied back, nails are to be kept short and tidy and all shoes must be closed toe.
